What We Offer:

Free classes and materials, convenient evening schedules, free transportation to and from school, professionally trained teachers, and much more.

FREE CLASSES AND MATERIALS

The program provides classes free of charge to registered students and provides all books, notebooks, and other study materials including online language platforms. Students do not pay for classes or materials.

FREE TRANSPORT

Don’t Drive? No car or license? No problem! A school bus can pick you up and drop you off along a convenient route that passes through Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, and Vineyard Haven.

CONVENIENT SCHEDULES

Classes are scheduled in the evenings and during the slower work season of September-April to accommodate Island workers. Both online and in-person classes are available.

TRAINED TEACHERS

MVALP instructors are highly trained and experienced. They bring years of collective educational, cultural, language, and pedagogical experience to the program.

STUDENT CENTERED CLASSES

As the student, the focus is on you. We are interested in what you have to say, what you think, and how you learn. All students actively participate in the classroom. The student does the majority of talking. The teacher is a facilitator of the learning.

BILINGUAL ADVISORS

A Portuguese-English speaking student advisor will assist you with understanding program policies and procedures. Her job is to help you overcome any barriers to the learning experience to help you meet your educational goals.
