She obtained a Master’s Degree in Applied Linguistics for Teaching English as a Second Language, from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. She holds a BA in Mass Communicationfrom Emerson College, Boston.

Jeanne's experience in the ESL field is wide-ranging, having planned, coordinated, marketed, recruited and taught for international and ESL programs. She has taught Adult Education in Brookline, served as the ESL Specialist at Simmons College and was on the staff at both UMass Boston and Boston University. She also spent a year in Mexico and taught at the prestigious Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, in Mexico State. Jeanne began teaching at Martha’s Vineyard Adult Learning Program in 1999. She became the ESOL Coordinator the following year, and in 2002 she became director of the program. As Director, Jeanne hires, trains and supervises staff. She develops program policies and plans, and oversees intake and assessment procedures, community planning, and technology coordination. She writes yearly grant proposals and program curriculum. In addition, she works closely with the teachers to develop educational plans for students, connect students with community agencies as needed, and to coordinate guest speaker sessions.
